Affirmative Thought Training (ATT)

Affirmative Thought Training (ATT) encourages people to embrace their thoughts and feelings rather than fighting or feeling guilty for them, thus offering a clinically-effective modality to heighten one's rational thought processes.

The basic premise of attempting to move away from any problem merely reinforces and magnifies the concern. The easiest way to escape from the problem is to accept that there's an issue and to ACT in a way to solve it.

Mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, OCD, addictions, and substance abuse can all benefit from ATT.

ATT training enhances psychological flexibility and is a form of behavioral therapy that promotes the practice and the skill of self-acceptance. ATT can be the master key toward accepting your thoughts and feelings.

With ATT, you learn to live in the moment, while making a commitment to facing life's problems head-on rather than attempting to avoid the issues that have created a stress response. Imagine being able to embrace your feelings and accept any challenge.

ATT is effective for a wide range of psychological disorders, and it is also effective as a life-affirming and inspirational perspective of self-determination. It is, genuinely, your psychological GPS toward living a life of values, rather than being driven by aberrant thoughts, which only create a detour away from living a fulfilling life.

What if you could accept and allow yourself to feel what you feel, and develop a greater sense of self-compassion and respect and are better able to handle life's detours?

Dr. Glenn Gero is certified through the Neurotherapy and Biofeedback Certification Board, is a certified Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) coach and has trained with both the Harvard Medical School Henry/Benson Institute of Mind/Body Medicine and the Harvard Institute of Lifestyle Medicine.
